P1 teachers who have submitted their applications to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for consideration of deployment to junior secondary schools (JSS) should begin preparing their documents for the highly anticipated exercise.
During the announcement of the 6,000 slots, the commission indicated that P1 teachers intended for deployment to junior schools are expected to be posted as the second term commences.

The opportunity will enable teachers who missed their chance during the first and second deployments to secure slots, but only for those who submitted applications after the Commission allowed fresh applications.
All qualified P1 teachers who will be deployed will teach both Grade Seven and Grade 8 learners in junior secondary schools.
TSC will also issue official communication regarding the process of document verification and the posting of teachers by TSC Sub-County Directors after receiving lists of successful applicants.
Among the qualifications for those to be deployed are:
a. Active registration as a teacher under the Teachers Service Commission.
b. Currently serving as a primary school teacher employed by TSC.
c. Not currently under interdiction or undergoing a disciplinary process.
d. Possession of a Diploma in Education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE (or its equivalent).
e. Attainment of a minimum of C+ in two teaching subjects currently offered in the school curriculum.
f. Alternatively, having two (2) principles and one (1) subsidiary pass at A level.
Teachers with a KCSE grade of C plain (or an equivalent) along with a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education are also eligible.
During the waiting period, P1 Teachers should make sure they posses the following documents;
i) Original and copy of the degree/diploma certificate.
ii) Original and copies of academic transcripts.
iii) Original and copy of SNE qualification (for those with alternative needs).
iv) Original and copy of the KCSE certificate (or an equivalent).
v) Copy of the current payslip.
vi) Teacher’s declaration letter by the Head of Institution confirming the teacher’s current service in the school and clean disciplinary record.
