The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Wednesday, April 3rd, issued a 24-hour notice for 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates to apply for tertiary courses in various universities and colleges.
KUCCPS emphasized the urgency, stating that the application portal would close the next day, Thursday, effectively closing off opportunities for further education.

The statement clarified that the KUCCPS portal grants partial accessibility to candidates who took their KCSE exams between 2000 and 2022, enabling them to apply for diplomas, certificates, and artisan courses.
“The application portal closes tomorrow, April 4, 2024. Log in to students.kuccps.net and apply for degree, diploma, certificate, and artisan courses,” announced KUCCPS.
Degree courses listed by KUCCPS are reserved for candidates who achieved a grade of C+ and above in their 2023 KCSE exams.
Students with a C (plain) and C- (minus) are eligible for selected diploma courses, while certificate courses are available at colleges, polytechnics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions for students who scored D (plain) and D- (minus). The remaining students can apply for KUCCPS artisanal courses at various TVET institutions.
For students who scored C+ and above in years other than 2023, they still qualify for degree courses but must apply directly to their university of choice. However, they will not be eligible for government scholarships under this scheme but can apply for the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loan.
