Ministry Issues Date When Schools Will Close for April Holiday

All pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools are scheduled to close on April 5th, with the April 2024 holiday starting on Monday, April 8th.

Following a three-week break for the April holiday, schools are set to resume on April 29th for the beginning of term 2, 2024.

Currently, students are required to attend school for a minimum of 2 weeks to conclude the better part of term one, as outlined by the ministry’s plan for a 13-week period.

Term two will extend from April 29th to August 2nd, 2024, encompassing a span of 14 weeks.

Prior to the August holiday, there will be a mid-term break from June 20th to June 23rd, 2024, lasting for 3 days, mirroring the duration of the first term mid-term break from February 29th to March 3rd, 2024.

The August holiday is scheduled from August 5th to August 23rd, also spanning three weeks.

Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment will take place in term three from October 28th to October 31st, spanning 4 days.

The 2024 KCSE examinations will be done from November 4th to November 22nd, lasting for a period of three weeks.

Later there will be the December Holiday from October 2024 to January 3rd, covering a period of ten weeks before schools reopen in January 2025.

On the other hand, teachers’ training colleges commenced term one from January 8th to April 5th, with plans to break for holidays from April 8th to April 26th.

Term two is slated to begin on April 29th and continue until August 2nd, followed by holidays scheduled from August 5th to August 30th.

The final term will span 11 weeks from August 26th to November 8th, leading up to the extended December holidays set from November 11th to January 3rd, 2025.
